New York-based Rubie's will increase its capacity at the Liverpool Freeport with a new 22,000 sq ft storage shed, taking its total square footage at Mersey Docks to 63,000 sq ft.
Rubie's Masquerade UK has been established in Liverpool since 1996, using the Freeport as an avenue into the rest of the UK and Europe. It is now the largest UK supplier for costumes and accessories within the party industry, employing 70 staff and eight sales agents in the UK with headquarters in Oxfordshire.
The increase in capacity will allow Rubie's to further increase sales and improve service levels to over 1,500 UK retail customers and European distribution partners.
UK Managing Director Chris Isitt is very excited about the new build. "Our business has grown so dramatically over the last three years that this increase in space is desperately needed to let us manage our present turnover more effectively and plan for further growth with the right resources in place. Liverpool has been the perfect location to nurture Rubie's arrival in the European market and we greatly value the relationship with all our partners at the Freeport."
The Port of Liverpool is home to the UK's largest free zone, Liverpool Freeport, accommodated in more than 3 million square feet of warehousing with another 400,000 sq ft planned, bringing the port's total logistics accommodation to more than 4 million square feet.
Mersey Docks chief surveyor Andy Martin said: "Rubie's Masquerade has been a valuable customer for a number of years and this new 22,000 square foot warehouse is a welcome expansion of their business with us. We are delighted to grow the relationship."
